Topical Review: Whimpers and Bangs: Of Death and Dying in the Nervous SystemDepartments of Pediatrics, Neurology, and Pharmacology, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA Mechanisms of cell death in general and in the nervous system in particular have received increasing attention over the past several years. Recent studies have begun to address the pathogenetic and therapeutic implications of these mechanisms vis-a-vis human disease.
