Application of this index to the data previously published confirms that the average is almost constant throughout the period from birth to 18 months, irrespective of sex or race. Head circumference cubed and body weight correlate significantly. This index seems to be useful to assess the proportion of head size to body mass during infancy, and to contribute to early diagnosis of diseases such as hydrocephalus or microcephaly.
